Introducing the Darling Downs African Communities Council (DDACC)
We are excited to announce the establishment of the Darling Downs African Communities Council (DDACC), a new initiative dedicated to fostering unity and empowerment within the African communities of the Darling Downs region.
On June 10th, 2023, the DDACC held its inaugural assembly at Multicultural Australia, where we elected eleven members to the governing board from a diverse group of 50 participants representing various African countries, including Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, Sudan, and Zimbabwe.
Comprising highly educated, skilled, and passionate individuals, DDACC aims to build a strong, united, and resilient African community in Darling Downs. Our vision is to provide services that uplift our communities, promoting values of unity, respect, harmony, and integrity.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the organizations and individuals who supported us during the establishment of DDACC, including Mercy Community Services (CAMS), Multicultural Australia (MA), Queensland Police Service (QPS), and other partners. Their invaluable assistance has been instrumental in bringing DDACC to life.
